Furniture Traders of Thirsk celebrates 20-year milestone

Furniture Traders, based in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, will mark its 20th anniversary this September.

The company was founded in 2006 by Steve and Colette Wilson and has since grown into one of the region’s leading independent furniture retailers, while maintaining its family‑run values.

In 2020, the business was handed over to brothers Josh and Jake Wilson, who have continued to grow the company with fresh ideas while building on the foundations established by their parents.

Josh and Jake Wilson said: “Celebrating 20 years is a huge milestone for our family and everyone who has been part of the Furniture Traders journey.

“We’re incredibly proud of what has been achieved since Mum and Dad started the business in 2006.

“From helping local families furnish their homes to working on landmark projects such as Grantley Hall, it has been an amazing journey.

“Most importantly, we’re grateful to the loyal customers, suppliers and staff who have supported us along the way.”

While the company is best known for helping families furnish their homes, it has also built a strong reputation in the commercial sector, supplying bespoke furniture to hotels, pubs and hospitality venues across Yorkshire.

One of its standout projects was managing all furniture for the five‑star Grantley Hall during its renovation.

The company worked closely with the hotel’s owners, designers and craftspeople to deliver custom pieces throughout the luxury property.

Its commercial client list also includes The Blue Bell at Arkendale, The Black Swan Hotel, The Feversham Arms Hotel & Verbena Spa, The Angel at Topcliffe and The Fairfax Arms.

Furniture Traders currently offers more than 70 furniture ranges from its Thirsk showroom.

It combines the buying power and expertise of a larger retailer with the personal service expected from a family business, offering free local delivery and a customer‑first approach.

This philosophy has helped the business earn the trust of customers for two decades, with many families returning for generations.
