Auckland motorway crashes leave two people dead and four injured
Traffic is building after northbound lanes on the Southern Motorway were closed between Manukau and East Tamaki early this morning.
Two people are dead and four injured – two critically – after separate incidents on Auckland motorways overnight, including one thatβs closed a northbound section of the Southern Motorway this morning as commuters return to work after the Waitangi Day public holiday.
Northbound lanes are closed between Manukau and East Tamaki after a single vehicle crash on the Southern Motorway at Otara at 2.20am that killed one person and injured four – two critically, police said.
βOne person died at the scene, two people were transported to Auckland Hospital in a critical condition and two other people were transported to Middlemore Hospital in a serious condition.β
Just over an hour earlier a person was killed when they walked onto the Southwestern Motorway at Mt Roskill and were struck by a vehicle, police said.
βThe person died at the scene, no other injuries are reportedβ, they said of the 1am incident, which was expected to cause delays on the Southwestern Motorway this morning.
