‘Success’ of revamped The Curious Grouse pub in Weardale
The venue, The Curious Grouse, at Heather View Holiday Park in Weardale has been transformed through a Β£400,000 investment.
The pub on the outskirts of Stanhope offers scenic views across the Durham Dales and down to the River Wear.
The Curious Grouse now features a large riverside beer garden, a new play park, a soft play area inside, and a games room for children.

Mike Wilmot, chief executive of Verdant Parks, which owns Heather View, said: “Holidaymakers come to us to escape the everyday and find themselves close to nature in our vibrantly Verdant spaces, but they also need great places to enjoy indoors too, which is why we place such an emphasis on our F&B venues.
“A family-friendly indoor and outdoor space like The Curious Grouse will provide even more flexible opportunities for our guests, owners and local visitors to enjoy time with family alongside great food, drinks and entertainment.

The pub also offers live music and entertainment, with a programme featuring family-friendly shows, tribute bands, and childrenβs events.
The current lineup includes a Mad Hatters Tea Party, a magician, and a Madness Ska tribute band.

Every Saturday afternoon features childrenβs entertainment.
Designed to be welcoming for all ages, the pub features stone and wood interiors, soft furnishings, and a relaxed atmosphere.
The menu offers something for everyone, from pub classics like fish and chips to burgers, pizzas, small plates, and a dedicated childrenβs menu.
The Curious Grouse is part of a wider over Β£5 million investment by Verdant Parks into its 11 parks this year.

The pub is open to both holiday park guests and the general public.
