Injured Black Caps bowler Lockie Ferguson is likely miss the rest of the Indian Premier League season with the Punjab Kings.
Paceman Ferguson suffered an undisclosed injury after bowling just two balls in their match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday and was assisted from the field.
He appeared to favour his left leg in the hip area.
Punjab fast bowling coach James Hopes said the 33-year-old’s prospects of playing again this season were grim.
“Ferguson is out indefinitely, and the chances of us getting him back by the end of the tournament are very slim, I would have thought,” Hopes said.

It continues a miserable run with injuries for the quick bowler, who has played more than 100 white ball internationals for New Zealand.
Ferguson had only just recovered from a hamstring injury which forced him to miss the Black Caps’ Champions Trophy campaign in February.
Before that, a calf injury forced him to miss an ODI series against Sri Lanka late last year.
Ferguson is set to be the second Black Cap ruled out of the IPL season after allrounder Glenn Phillips picked up a groin injury while fielding for the Gujarat Titans.
An IPL statement said Phillips had “returned to New Zealand”, with Gujarat yet to name a replacement.
Phillips had not started any of his team’s six matches and was only on the field as a substitute fielder against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
