Pickle and Ginger bistro to open in Bishop Auckland next month
Pickle and Ginger will open its doors on Monday June 1, run by husband and wife duo Tom and Laura Kilty.
The couple will run the venue at 17 South Church Road themselves, with occasional help from daughter Izzy, who attends Bishop College.
Originally from South West London, they moved to Bishop Auckland with their three children Connor, Izzy and Immy five years ago, wanting something different from life in the capital.
The family said: “It was the best thing we have done as we love the area and the people are so friendly.”

Tom, 51, a former master upholsterer and Laura, 44, a florist, have both been working in hospitality since their move North, and have since been inspired to open their own venue.
Ater searching for some time for the right location, they believe they have now found it.
The bistro is located opposite King James I Academy and will offer meal deals for students for both breakfast and lunch.
Tom said: “We felt this location and place was great for what we needed. We are excited with some good nerves, as to be expected, and looking forward to opening.

“We’re going to offer proper coffee, teas and drinking chocolate as well as soft drinks. With good honest, quality food.”
The bistro will have space for ten customers inside and offer takeaway options.
Customers can expect specials, sweet treats, brunch and lunch on the menu.
The space has undergone a full renovation, which is expected to be completed by mid next week (W/C May 18) ahead of the opening.
