Old pipes replaced in County Durham as Cocken Road scheme completes
The upgrades were carried out by Northumbrian Water on Cocken Road, west of Leamside, as part of a Β£450,000 investment to improve water quality and supply reliability in the area.
The project, delivered by Northumbrian Waterβs partner United Infrastructure, was finished ahead of schedule.
Brian Hardy, project manager at Northumbrian Water, said: “This investment helps to protect water supplies, and water quality, for now and future generations.
“We are grateful for the understanding and patience of customers who live in the area, and motorists who use Cocken Road, while this work took place.”
Mr Hardy said the investment is part of a wider programme to upgrade old water mains across the region.
Northumbrian Water plans to spend Β£74m between 2025 and 2030 to renew 362 kilometres of its network.
