TripAdvisor: Seaham cafe has hundreds of ‘perfect’ scores

The Lamp Room in Seaham has bagged nearly 700 ‘excellent’ scores on the online review site, the highest rating that can be given.

Located on North Terrace in Seaham just opposite the famous Tommy statue, the cafe serves a variety of staples including full English breakfasts and omelettes. It also serves a traditional roast dinner on a Sunday.

The venue has been praised by customers for its ‘welcoming atmosphere’ and its reasonable prices.

“Went here recently after wanting to go for ages and it didn’t disappoint,” one reviewer wrote.

“The restaurant itself is beautifully presented and welcoming. The food was really good I can’t wait to return to try other dishes on the menu.

“I had a selection from the tapas menu and the Korean pork ribs were to die for. The Spanish tortilla was one of the nicest I’ve had outside of Spain! The staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble even though it was busy. Can’t wait to return.”

Another reviewer, Megan R, said: “The staff are so welcoming and they always remember my coffee order, which is such a lovely touch.

“The place is always so busy, with such a lovely atmosphere. The brunch is some of the best I’ve tasted in County Durham.”

Degsy79 said: “Pre booked (advised) for breakfast and it’s one of the best full English breakfast I’ve had.

“Staff are so helpful and ever so polite. We both enjoyed & my partner was more pleased they did a tasty gluten free option that didn’t compromise on flavour.”

Meanwhile, another reviewer had one criticism, even though the overall was a good picture: “First visit to area so looked on trip advisor where to get breakfast and this came up as best so gave it a go and was not disappointed. Great menu and delicious food .

“Highly recommend full English, and the eggs Benedict was really tasty with the ham hock. Would certainly return if in the area again, only downside is dogs are not allowed inside, so it’s outdoor seating only which is fine in a dry day but not so great on a bad day.”
