TripAdvisor: ‘Hidden gem’ Darlington curry house goes 5-star
Situated on Northgate, Arvelli is a popular curry house which promises an ‘authentic, yet elegantly modern’ twist on an Indian menu.
Offering sit-down options as well as takeaway, the menu features all the household curries that County Durham families will recognise from Madras to Bhuna, to Vindaloo.
And out of the 74 reviews of the venue on online review site TripAdvisor, Arvelli has 66 ranked ‘excellent’ – the highest rating that can be given.
One reviewer said: “It’s a hidden gem. Staff are so attentive, cleanliness is immaculate and as for the food…incredible!
“It’s easy to see they are passionate about what they do. Love this and will return soon.”
Another reviewer said: “We’ve just discovered this gem and after two visits will be back. The food is excellent and well presented, my fish starter looked good enough to serve in a French bistro.
“They also serve things which I have not seen in a Bangladeshi/ Indian restaurant before such as the duck which was very tender, and the lamb shank is cooked to perfection.”
