TripAdvisor: Glasshouse in Darlington gets five-star rating



The Glasshouse Restaurant is a student training restaurant within Darlington College.

It is open Tuesday to Friday between 12.00 and 14.30, with last orders being 13.00, and speciality dining events on some Wednesday evenings.

A restaurant spokesperson said: “All of the superb dishes served within the Glasshouse Restaurant are prepared, cooked, and served by our hospitality catering students.”

It has earned a reputation on online review website TripAdvisor for its quality food and good service, with 78 of its 83 reviews rated ‘excellent’ – the top ranking that can be awarded.

“We were amazed at how quick the service was,” one reviewer said. 

“They let us enjoy our meal without rushing us, and the food was wonderful, hot, and beautifully plated, visually appealing to the guests. The staff were very efficient, attentive, and polite.

“I intend to go back again for more delicious meals and would recommend this Restaurant to anyone looking for good food and service.”

Another reviewer said: “Wonderful lunch, slow-cooked beef cheek delicious, cooked to perfection and beautifully presented.

“The girls who served us were very professional, friendly and well-supervised. It would have been nice to meet the student chefs, they truly produced top-class cuisine, thank you.”

“Thoroughly recommend visiting this restaurant,” said user Craig. 

“Food is always amazing and very good value and more importantly you are supporting the students in their development and future careers in the catering and hospitality sector.”

“Each course was delicious, well executed and beautifully presented.

“The service was attentive and friendly and of course, the evening was excellent value for money. We can’t wait to come back already! PS – the choux-based dessert was heavenly.”
