TripAdvisor: Beamish restaurant’s food is ‘better than Italy’
Il Cancello in Beamish has been praised for serving ‘the best’ food by reviewers on the online review site, with one going as far as saying that the lasagne he ate was better than ones he had sampled in Italy.
Based near the popular open-air Beamish Museum, Il Cancello has bagged more than 480 ‘perfect’ scores on TripAdvisor – the top score possible to give as a reviewer.
“On arrival the place was packed with a fantastic atmosphere loads of smiling faces, we were given a warm, friendly welcome and a fuss made of us all,” David R said.
“Starters arrived quickly they were lovely and six empty plates, our main courses arrived perfectly and for the first time I had the lasagne,” he added.
“I have had lasagne many times in Italy and in the UK it was actually fantastic the best I have ever had, the wife said the same about the cannelloni, and the kids and grandkids said exactly the same about their pizzas and meals.”
“Only discovered this little gem last month but have been back several times already,” said Mark P.
“Food is absolutely top quality and the prices more than reasonable. Portions are generous, and staff couldn’t be more helpful. Is definitely now our number one Italian Restaurant of choice!”
Another reviewer, Hayley M, said: “Food superlative, ample portion size.
“Everyone is greeted as friends by all members of staff.
“Can’t fault the Sunday Lunch. The Tiramisu is scrumptious. Highly recommend a visit.”
