Three Mile in Gosforth to launch afternoon tea on VE Day
Three Mile, located on Great North Road in Gosforth, will introduce its summer selection of finger sandwiches and sweet treats on Thursday, May 8.
The new menu, inspired by British classics, will be available for £15 per person on the launch day, which marks the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.
The afternoon tea includes sandwiches such as smoked salmon with lemon butter, ham with mustard mayonnaise, and cucumber with dill cream cheese.
Cheese and chive scones with ham hock butter and pork and apple sausage rolls add a savoury touch.
For dessert, guests can enjoy a traditional fruit scone with clotted cream and strawberry jam, Victoria sponge, and baked lemon cheesecake.
The menu also features banoffee tart and chocolate and rum delice.
A vegan afternoon tea menu is also available, offering savoury cheddar cheese, cucumber and hummus, and plant-based chicken and chorizo finger sandwiches.
The vegan selection includes a sausage roll with chutney and a mushroom, shallot and pepper quiche, as well as scones with cream and jam, Victoria sandwich cake, chocolate and cherry tart, chocolate and orange fingers, and lemon and poppy seed squares.
