STACK Seaburn get green light to remain on seafront

Councillors on Sunderland City Council’s planning and highway committee have granted approval for STACK Seaburn to become a long-standing addition to the Sunderland seafront.

Initially planned to remain until 2027, the approval secures the site indefinitely.

The decision is said to not only boosts the economy but also secure 130 jobs at STACK Seaburn.

It will also see STACK Seaburn expand further, with the addition of their ‘competitive socialising gaming concept’, Sideshow.(Image: Supplied)

This carnival-themed area, first introduced at STACK Lincoln, will feature shuffleboard, darts and karaoke booths, bowling, beer pong, and pool tables on the ground floor, plus a first floor function room.

This will be added to the existing street food outlets and bars, which attract around 50,000 visitors each week.

STACK CEO Neill Winch said: “Sunderland seafront is a huge asset to the area and the region as a whole and has always had a great deal to offer both local residents and visitors.

“Being able to retain STACK Seaburn and to expand our offering will make it even more attractive to everyone, which is not just good for us but for the local economy as a whole.

“We look forward to being able to start work.”
