Man dies at Wetherspoon The Ralph Fitz Randal pub Richmond


Customers were evacuated from The Ralph Fitz Randal in Richmond, North Yorkshire this afternoon after the man was believed to have had a heart attack.

First aiders attempted to save him while they awaited ambulance crews who arrived a short time later.

Paramedics asked the manager to close the pub, a Wetherspoon spokesperson confirmed, as the man had sadly passed away.

It happened at about 3.30pm at the busy pub and the air ambulance landed nearby a short time later.

Police and fire crews also attended and bar staff were seen preventing drinkers entering the pub a short time later.

The pub is still closed and will be until further notice, the chain confirmed.

An eyewitness said: β€œI was driving past and the road was closed. I saw lots of ambulance crew gathered around the back of the ambulance.”

Another said: β€œIt’s really awful to see. My thoughts are with his family.”

The Yorkshire Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “Ambulance resources attended a medical incident in the area this afternoon – the incident remains ongoing.”
