Lidl’s new 59p School Cake bakery treat causes a stir online
The supermarketās latest addition to its popular range of sweet treats is proving to be a hit with shoppers, with several posts online.
The brand has announced the launch ofĀ its School Cake, which features vanilla-flavoured sponge and is topped with buttercream and rainbow sprinkles.
A slice will cost you 59p, but youāll need to hurry to try it as itās only available in stores across the country until June 11.
Shared on Instagram page @uknewestfoods, it received rave reviews, while others couldnāt wait to recall memories.

However, some people on a similar Facebook page were unsure if whether the bake would be as good as what they remembered.
āOld school cake is not this type of icing, this is just sprinkle cake, you can’t say it’s something that it’s not,ā one person said.
āAh what memories! But never will it compare to what we had in school,ā another person added.
