First bookshop in Sedgefield visited by Horrible Histories author


Author Terry Deary, visited Back of Beyond Books in Sedgefield on Monday following its launch on Thursday, March 20.  

The store can be found on Church View and is the town’s first ever bookshop – and it’s already proving popular with readers.

Back of Beyond Books was opened by Lucy Atkinson, 26, who said she was thrilled at the special visit, the Trimdon resident said: “It was great to have Terry Deary in the shop, and we are looking forward to everything we have coming up.

“It has been crazy since the opening, it has been a lot busier than we expected.”

Mr Deary is set to return to the store soon for a signing of his new release, with a date yet to be announced.

He has written 351 books – fiction and non-fiction for children and adults – published in the past 47 years and is known globally. 

Back of Beyond Books  – which also includes a coffee shop –  serves cakes and sweet treats from the town’s Fusion Cake Haus and offers readers a ‘blind date with a book’.
