County Durham restaurant shortlisted at British Kebab Awards

Turkish Kitchen Meze and Grill located in Durham is among the many other eateries in the North East that have been shortlisted for the awards, hoping to be crowned winners in their respective categories.

The awards, in association with JUST EAT are a chance to “recognise and champion the efforts of local kebab takeaways and restaurants across the nation”.

“Fans of their friendly neighbourhood kebab takeaways and restaurants can claim they truly do have Britain’s best kebab takeaway and restaurant by voting for them in the British Kebab Awards,” explains the British Kebab Awards website.

It adds: “We’re rewarding the dedication of local kebab takeaway and restaurant owners across the country, recognising their contribution to our economy on a truly national scale.

“We’re saying thank you to the unsung heroes, the hardworking people behind the great little kebab takeaway and restaurant places.

“What’s more, we are giving people the chance to say definitively that they have the best kebab restaurant.”

County Durham restaurant named semi-finalist at British Kebab Awards 2025

Turkish Kitchen Meze and Grill has been shortlisted in the “Customer Satisfaction” category, alongside the likes of Askim’s Restaurant in Scarborough and Alaturka Meze Mangal in Nottingham to name a few.

On Tripadvisor, Turkish Kitchen Meze and Grill has an impressive 4.5/5 rating from 273 reviews.

One customer posted: “We ordered the Beetroot Tarator, Baba Ganoush, the Chicken and Lamb spicy pots with a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. The food came quickly, all the dishes were good quality, generous portions and very tasty.

“Beetroot Tarator was a new experience, Beetroot mixed with yoghurt and tahini. Both starters went exceptionally well with the wine which was reasonably priced and very cold (a good thing!). Service was friendly and efficient.”

Another added: “Absolutely amazing food, had the sharing grill for two, very very tasty , lovely place and wonderful service. Looking forward to our desert.”
