Bombay Gate, Darlington named in British Curry Guide 2025


Bombay Gate on Skinnergate was one of two in Darlington to make the list, alongside Babul’s, marking a significant achievement for the town’s culinary scene.

The British Curry Guide selects restaurants based on customer nominations and secret visits from inspectors, assessing food quality, service, and overall experience.

Owner Syed Ahmed said the recognition was a major milestone for the restaurant and Darlington.

It confirms that we’re doing the right thing and delivering the best food and service possible. To be recognised at a national level is overwhelming.”

The restaurant is now waiting for the official gold plaque to be placed outside, signifying its inclusion in the guide.

Syed added: “We are so proud to bring this honour to Darlington. It is definitely putting it on the map.

“This recognition will show people that we’re up there with the best, and we look forward to welcoming more diners.

“The inclusion of two Darlington restaurants in the British Curry Guide 2025 is a rare achievement for a town of its size.

“Alongside Babuls it is exciting to have two restaurants on Skinnergate in the guide is just a great thing for both of us”.
