Bailiffs move in on Estabulo restaurant on Durham Riverwalk
The Northern Echo can reveal that enforcement agents have taken control of the Estabulo Rodizio Bar & Grill at the popular Riverwalk complex in the city centre.
A forfeiture notice – a document used by a landlord to terminate a lease – has been placed on the windows of the site, saying bailiffs have re-entered.ย
Estabulo is now no longer listed on The Riverwalk website, and Durham is no longer listed under the locations tab of the chainโs website.ย
Pictures taken on June 3 also show that an โunder offerโ poster has been placed over one of the windows of the restaurant, which was in darkness at the time.ย
A spokesperson for Estabulo said there has been โno official confirmation regarding the permanent closure of the restaurantโ.
They added: โIn some cases, sites with forfeiture notices do reopen, so we are currently awaiting further updates.ย

Estabulo, which has locations in Leeds, Barnsley, and Aberdeen, was first announced for The Riverwalk in July 2021, before opening in September 2022.
The Brazilian-inspired restaurant can house 150 diners at a time and offers stunning views across the River Wear, Durham Cathedral and Castle.
Clearbell, the firm behind the development, has not yet commented on the closure.
The news comes six months after Estabuloโs restaurant in Darlington suddenly closed in January, when bosses said they were carrying out a revamp.ย

But just weeks later, the restaurant was stripped out inside and signs were taken down, leaving questions over whether it would be reopening at all.ย
The chain said this week that a final decision was yet to be made regarding the reopening of the Darlington restaurant.ย
