My Secret Auckland: Hip-hop artist Who Shot Scott shares his favourite spots in Tฤmaki Makaurau
Ortolana, the seasonal menu always slaps.
Favourite restaurant for dinner with friends?
Amano for the cosy dim nights (especially in truffle season), otherwise Little Turkish Cafe on K Rd.
Favourite place to take a visitor to?
Auckland Art Gallery for The Robinson Gift. Beautiful pieces in that collection by Picasso, Monet, Dali.
Favourite spot to finish a night out?
Donโt really do โnights outโ but after dinner catching a classic screening at the Hollywood Avondale is a perfect night for me.
Favourite place to get coffee?
Dose on High St is incredible. For a daily coffee though, anywhere that does good Allpress.
Favourite fish-and-chip shop?
I probably only have fish and chips once a year at the most, but if I do itโs almost always from Kohi Fresh Fish & Takeaways.
Favourite trail for a hike?
Mangemangeroa Reserve, again, the local spot but super trusty.
Favourite venue for a gig?
Whichever one Iโm playing at for Cross St festival.
Favourite place to find a bargain?
Bungalow Bills Music Shop.
Who Shot Scott is the brainchild of Iraqi-born, New Zealand-raised artist Zee (Zaidoon Nasir), whose experimental approach to hip-hop is both captivating and boundary-pushing. Blending vulnerable, introspective lyrics with heavy beats and tribal drums, Zee has created a unique sound thatโs entirely his own. Who Shot Scott will be performing at The Cross Street Music Festival on Saturday, March 8. More info and tickets at https://www.crossstmusicfestival.co.nz/.
