Yarm firm Logic-i secures major contract at Teesworks

Independent project management consultancy Logic-i has been chosen to oversee the expansion of the private wire network at the former Redcar steelworks site, now known as Teesworks.
Over the next three to five years, the Yarm-headquartered firm will play a central role in the Steel River Power project, a joint venture between Steel River Energy Ltd and North West Electricity Networks (UK) Ltd.
This venture represents an investment of more than ยฃ100m, aimed at expanding the private electricity distribution network at Teesworks to support the growth of industries on-site.
Logic-iโs responsibilities will include managing the projectโs contract administration, scrutinising contract performance, and ensuring all agreements and adjustments are documented in line with project goals.
This will ensure the projectโs โdynamic needsโ are met while adhering to timelines and budgets.
Additionally, Logic-i will appoint a senior planning consultant to help deliver the Steel River Power masterplan.
This role involves ensuring the principal contractor, local sub-contractors, and supply chain partners maintain synchronised schedules to achieve project milestones efficiently.
The consultant will also anticipate and mitigate potential challenges to support the smooth progression of the project.
Stephen Humble, a director at Logic-i, said: โWhile Logic-i delivers projects globally, securing this contract has special significance as it enables us to contribute to a project of immense importance to Teesside and the wider North East region.
โThis opportunity underscores our expertise in project management and represents a key milestone in our growth strategy.
โWe look forward to building a successful partnership and supporting the future of Teesworks here in our home region.โ
The expansion of the Steel River Power electrical network is expected to create hundreds of new jobs and bring major infrastructure improvements to the Teesworks site, further establishing it as a leading green energy and industrial hub.
Andy Laundon, operations director of Steel River Power Limited, said: โGiven the immense scale of our capital programme, it is imperative that the safe delivery of the expansion project is the overarching priority.
โAs such, we are delighted to have engaged Logic-i to oversee the contractual performance of the principal contractor and local sub-contractors.
โTheir proven track record and expertise will be an asset to Steel River Power and to the facilitation of wider development on Teesworks, whilst maintaining alignment to Steel River Powerโs principles of utilising local supply chain partners.โ
