Newcastle firm Opencast to supply NHS with digital solutions

Opencast, based in Hoults Yard, Newcastle, has been selected as a supplier on Crown Commercial Service’s (CCS) Digital Capability for Health 2 (DCfH2) framework.

This means the company can provide NHS England and other public sector organisations with digital and technology solutions.

The firm is now in a position to help UK healthcare organisations ‘provide better outcomes for patients through innovative digital solutions’.

Opencast will lead a group of suppliers, including partners Axiologik, Bluesmith Information Systems and RedRock Consulting, to provide expertise on healthcare projects.

Services on the DCfH2 framework include development operations, digital definition, build and transition, end-to-end development, and data management.

Harry Armstrong, chief growth officer at Opencast, said: “Healthcare is a strategic priority for us – and this important healthcare framework win means we’re even better placed to deliver on our commitment to support public healthcare.

“All of our partners on this framework bring rich and highly relevant experience of work on cutting-edge innovation for the UK’s healthcare sector, and we’re delighted to be partnering with them.”

Opencast has already worked with the NHS Business Services Authority and NHS England, as well as private sector clients such as eConsult and the Global Medical Device Nomenclature (GMDN) Agency.

Mr Armstrong added: “Bluesmith’s emphasis is on data-led technical delivery, with a focus on data and analytics engineering.

“RedRock adds deep experience in regulation and medicines, with a growing focus on cybersecurity and service transition.

“And Axiologic brings a strong reputation for delivering complex change, particularly in the NHS.”

The company has been expanding its healthcare portfolio over recent months.

CCS helps the public sector to get the ‘best commercial value’ when buying common goods and services.

In 2023/24, CCS helped the public sector to achieve commercial benefits equal to £4.9 billion.
