Newcastle firm launches to help businesses adopt AI
Newcastle-based SPG Intelligence, a subsidiary of Solution Performance Group, will focus on cloud intelligence, cyber intelligence, and applied intelligence.
The launch follows a strategic reorganisation of teams across the business to scale AI delivery for both public and private sector clients.
The UK government’s AI Opportunities Action Plan projects that AI adoption could contribute an additional £400 billion to the UK economy by 2030, thanks to innovation, productivity, and efficiency gains, particularly across the private sector.
Some estimates ‘go even further’.
Research commissioned by Microsoft suggests that AI could add £550 billion to the UK’s GDP by 2035, with AI-driven technologies predicted to increase the country’s GDP by up to 10 per cent by 2030.
Gareth Humphreys, group CEO at SPG Intelligence, said: “Our clients aren’t asking if they should use AI; they’re asking how fast they can make it happen.
“The launch is about responding to that urgency.
“We’ve redeployed talent, refined our focus, and are ready to scale.
“We set up the group six years ago to help companies tackle technological challenges.
“We’ve seen the number of AI and machine learning projects we undertake grow in volume and complexity.
“Now is the right time to grow our capacity in this area and enable us to help more companies.”
SPG Intelligence says it is targeting businesses looking to “modernise cloud infrastructure, enhance digital security, and embed AI tools such as agents and automation into everyday operations”.
The need for advanced cyber intelligence is growing rapidly, especially as threats become more sophisticated.
The UK’s National Cyber Security Centre has warned that AI could increase the volume and impact of cyberattacks in the next two years.
Meanwhile, SPG Resourcing, the group’s recruitment arm, says it is experiencing a significant increase in demand for roles linked to AI implementation and cybersecurity.
A recent whitepaper from the company outlines the extent of the challenge, with businesses in the UK estimated to lose £21 billion annually to cybercrime.
GlobalData forecasts that the global AI market will exceed $1 trillion by 2030.
According to SPG Intelligence, the opportunity is not only in the technology itself but also in supporting organisations as they manage the complexities of AI adoption.
