Lanchester Fish Bar to reopen with new name after renovation
The former Lanchester Fish Bar, a staple of the village, closed in autumn 2024 after its owners retired and is now run by two brothers who have undertaken an extensive renovation of the site, including a complete rebrand.
Promising a ‘new lease of life’ for the shop, Rich and Aidan Weatherburn announced the changes on social media in November saying: “We’re thrilled to announce that we’re taking over the much-loved local fish and chip shop as the previous owner begins a well-earned retirement.
“With a fresh new name, Grandpa’s Fish Bar, and a little TLC, we’re proud to carry on the tradition of being a cherished part of this amazing community. We’ll be a family-run business, and we’re committed to serving you the same delicious food you’ve always loved.”
Grandpa’s Fish Bar is set to reopen under its new name in early March, with new owners Rich and Aidan ‘excited’ to share their ‘passion’ for food with the village.

“My brother and I are both extremely passionate about food, I’ve always enjoyed taking a classic dish and elevating it to its highest potential, and there’s nothing more classic than British Fish and Chips.”

“We’d like to thank the people of Lanchester who have already shown us such amazing support during the renovations, we can’t wait to welcome you to your brand new fish and chip shop,” he said.
“This business is extremely special to us, our first joint venture as brothers, named in honour of our wonderful grandad who we know would be so proud to see us working together.”
