FinTech North event coming to Newcastle’s Wylam Brewery
The fifth annual FinTech North event will be held at Wylam Brewery at the Palace of Arts in Exhibition Park on July 1.
The day will focus on the region’s significance as a fintech hub and the increasing role of companies in causing social change.
Key topics up for discussion will include the growth of the sector in the region, inbound and outbound expansion, data, and AI.
The region has been forecasted to contribute Β£431m GVA by 2025, with the number of fintech companies in the North East expected to reach 81 by the end of the year, up from 45 in 2022.
At the conference, the CEOs of Atom Bank and Kani Payments will speak about their experiences in the industry.
Other speakers will include representatives from Mastercard, the Department for Business and Trade, North Star Ventures, and Innovate Finance.
Various sessions will delve into AI’s role, sustainable finance, and how to maximise fintech potential in the North East and across the UK.
Kani Paymentsβ leaders will have a discussion with Maven Capital Partners, who recently announced a multi-million pound investment into the Newcastle-based company.
They will share insights into their journey post-Series A fundraising and provide practical advice to any startups in attendance.
The conference will also include a Dragons’ Den-style pitching showcase, with two sessions focusing on scaling sustainably while aligning social and environmental impact with commercial success and data and AI innovation.
Speakers will include Keepl Social, peer-to-peer tipping platform thankyΓΌ, cross-border financial services specialist Ndewo, and tech specialist law firm Percy Crow Davis & Co Ltd.
