Established in 2004 at The Wilton Centre in Redcar, CPI has facilitated more than ยฃ3 billion in private investment and supported over 1,300 businesses.
This effort has helped bring ‘cutting-edge innovations’ to market and created many high-value jobs in the North East and beyond.
CPI’s expansion across the region over the years has resulted in ‘world-class’ facilities in Wilton, Darlington, and Sedgefield.Conference attendees (Image: Supplied)
These facilities have turned the region into a hub of innovation in life sciences, advanced manufacturing, and clean technology.
This expertise has assisted numerous local SMEs, including Pragmatic Semiconductor and Calysta, to scale up, making the region competitive on a global stage.

She said: “CPI has a huge role to play when it comes to making Britain a clean energy superpower, our commitment to hitting net zero by 2030, and building an industrial strategy that has deep roots in local communities.
“CPI holds the key to achieving so much of this government’s ambitionโdriving growth, pushing technological innovation, and building a future where world-class science and industry transform communities like mine in Redcar.”
CPIโs CEO, Frank Millar, added: “The North East has always been at the heart of CPIโs work, and we remain focused on ensuring that regional innovation fuels national success.
“By helping businesses scale, strengthening supply chains, and creating high-value jobs, we are building a more resilient and competitive economy.”
As a leading independent technology innovation centre, CPI continues to play a crucial role in supporting businesses of all sizes.
It achieves this by bridging the gap between research and industry, ensuring the North East has the funding, expertise, and infrastructure needed for business success.
