Anderson & Garland to visit Richmond and Barnard Castle

Auctioneers from Anderson & Garland will be at the King’s Head Hotel in Richmond on May 12 and the Bowes Museum in Barnard Castle on May 16, offering expert valuations.

Other antiques can also be valued at the ‘Antiques Roadshow-style’ event, and those that interest the team could then be consigned to future auctions. The Bowes MuseumThe Bowes Museum (Image: Anderson & Garland)

A spokesperson for the firm said: “Consign now with Anderson & Garland, the leading auctioneers in the North East and Scottish Borders.

“Our friendly and highly experienced team can appraise and consign a wide variety of antiques, silver, jewellery and watches during this special ‘Antiques Roadshow’-style event.”

The firm also revealed some of its previous success stories, such as the Lord Nelson commemorative glass valued at £300-400 at a similar event which later went on to sell for £4,550.The Nelson commemorative glass The Nelson commemorative glass (Image: Anderson & Garland)

A violin deemed fit for the bin by its owner due to its missing strings, bridge and pegs was also valued by the team as a rare French-made instrument, fetching more than £6,500.

The spokesperson added: “We look forward to seeing you there.”

Viewing and auction day events will also take place at both venues around similar dates, with a music, auction and jewellery, watches and silver event taking place in Richmond on May 19, and May 20 and 21 respectively, and a home and interiors auction in Barnard Castle on May 17.
