Accountancy firm trains 1,500 charity trustees over decade
BHP started the free programme in 2015 after noticing a lack of support for those wanting to volunteer their expertise to the third sector.
The programme has been a success, with this year’s sessions being hailed as the most popular yet.
The training was delivered through a series of webinars, which were attended by more than 200 people.
Attendees represented a wide range of organisations, including community foundations, diocesan and university organisations, and national charities.
Laura Masheder, partner at BHP who heads up the charity team, said: “Trustees play a crucial role in charities, from overseeing how the charity is run through governance and financial responsibilities to bringing their own skills and experience to help support the organisation to achieve its goals.
“Having witnessed first-hand the lack of support and training available to trustees, we sought to make a difference and I’m thrilled that as a firm BHP is not only making an impact locally but nationally.
“To have hit the milestone of supporting over 1,500 trustees from across the UK is fantastic, especially as most of our programme attendees have been recommended to train with us by their peers.
“In the current economic climate, the role of the third sector has never been more important and we’re proud to be able to support these organisations through this training and our leading charity services.”
