A1(M) speed restrictions and closures set to be implemented
The work from Junction 62 (Carrville) to Junction 63 (Chester-le-Street), which will commence on Friday, February 14, will involve concreting, cathodic protection, painting, and bridge joint works.
The restrictions will be in place from 8pm to 6am Monday to Friday, 8pm to 9am on Saturday, and 8pm to 10am on Sunday.
The project, expected to last for seven months, will involve temporary speed restrictions of 50mph, 40mph, and 30mph, as well as the closure of certain sections of the motorway.
National Highways has confirmed that alternative routes will be available during the closures.
Meanwhile, A Bishop Auckland takeaway has applied for a new premises licence to allow the sale of alcohol on the premises.
Wok N Roll, situated at Unit 10, Bishop Auckland Retail and Leisure Park, St Helen, Bishop Auckland, has applied to Durham County Council for the licence.
If granted, the licence will permit the sale of alcohol from Monday to Sunday, between 12pm and 11pm.
The application is open for inspection at the council’s offices on weekdays between 9.30am and 4.30pm.
Representations or objections to the application can be made in writing by February 5.
Elsewhere in County Durham, a series of temporary road closures and speed restrictions are set to be implemented as part of the Surface Dressing Programme 2025.
The works, which are set to start on Monday, February 10, will affect various roads across the county, including Egglestone Lane, Croft Yorke Lane, Westwick Road, and Station Road.
The works are expected to be completed within nine months.
All affected roads will have speed restrictions and alternative routes will be clearly signposted.
In planning news, several applications have been submitted under the Town & Country Planning Act 1990 and Planning (Listed Buildings & Conservation Areas) Act 1990.
These include the installation of CCTV, external lighting, an alarm, and an outdoor electrical socket and tap at 27 – 29 Front Street, Wolsingham, the construction of a photovoltaic solar development, substation, and infrastructure on land to the south of Wagtail Lane, Craghead, and the construction of 20 dwellings in Bowburn.
Representations for these applications should be made by February 13.
Sharpsmart Ltd., based in Ashby De La Zouch, is applying to change an existing goods vehicle operator’s licence to keep an extra five trailers at the operating centre at Unit 1-2, Enterprise City, Meadowfield Avenue, Spennymoor.
Representations regarding this application should be made in writing within 21 days of the notice’s publication.
