BID-Backed deep clean gives Northallerton High Street a fresh new look

The deep clean was made possible through funding from the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority, with support from Mayor David Skaith. This investment reflects a shared ambition to strengthen local high streets, support economic resilience, and create attractive destinations that encourage both footfall and spending.

Works included intensive cleaning of pavements, street furniture, and public areas, targeting built-up dirt and grime to restore the High Street’s appearance. The improvements have contributed to a fresher, more inviting atmosphere for shoppers, visitors, and local businesses.

Alex Shennib, Northallerton BID Manager said:

β€œMaintaining a clean and attractive town centre is essential for supporting our local economy and ensuring a positive experience for everyone who visits Northallerton. This deep clean has made a noticeable difference, and we are grateful for the support from the Combined Authority and Mayor Skaith in helping us deliver this important project.”

The initiative forms part of a wider programme of work by the BID to enhance the town centre, promote local businesses, and ensure Northallerton continues to thrive as North Yorkshire’s county town.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to experience the refreshed High Street and support the wide range of independent and national businesses that make Northallerton a unique and welcoming destination.
