The Northern Echo’s Best Coffee Shop 2025 shortlist revealed

Our readers have nominated their favourite coffee shops in Darlington and County Durham, filling our list with an exciting variety.

From Monday (November 24), readers can vote using the slip in The Northern Echo, and each day we will feature one of our amazing finalists until voting closes on Wednesday, December 10.

Votes will then be counted shortly after and a winner will be crowned.

From lattes to flavourful lunch pastries, County Durham and Darlington are home to these brilliant coffee shops.

Our top ten coffee shops are:

• MJ’s Cake Café at 15 Station Terrace, Middleton St George, Darlington
• Origins Coffee Bar at 29 Grange Road, Darlington
• Robinaeu Café & Pattiserie at 27 West Auckland Road, Darlington
• Viking Coffee on Covered Market, Tubwell Row, Darlington

Back again for 2025 is Deli-cious, which was named the winner of the Echo’s Best Coffee Shop of 2024.

Speaking on her 2024 win, owner Maria Zaimaki said: “We have a good combination here. It’s good coffee, food, and we have nice friendly staff. So I think we have it all. All the staff try their best – this is very exciting.”
