The 48-year-old said: “I have a couple of stores in the market, the German and the Italian, and previously we had a Mexican before this, but when the Greek place left, we decided to change because Greek food is the number one street food in the UK. So that is why we took over and opened this new place.”
It only took Matei a week from the idea of opening a Greek place to getting it up and running.

He added: “I am a chef and have quite a lot of experience in the market. We do gyros, lamb and chicken koftes, souvlaki, platters, halloumi, loaded fries and all.
“We get all of our ingredients fresh, even the vegetables from the green grocers in the market.
“Everything we make in here, from the flat breads to the chips, is homemade. We marinate the meat, and we can do everything in house.
“i think this place will be number one in the area because everything is proper authentic and freshly made and we would be grateful for people’s support in this.”
The Gyros Place will open in the market from 12pm until 9pm Thursday through Saturday and then 12pm until 4pm Sundays.
