The Dog and Gun at Knayton, Thirsk, reopens under new owners

The Dog & Gun, in Knayton, near Thirsk, officially reopened on August 1, marking a fresh chapter for the historic North Yorkshire venue.

The family-run establishment has been lovingly restored, with the new owners introducing a refreshed menu, stylish interiors, and a brand-new decking area at the rear of the pub, perfect for enjoying drinks in the sunshine.

The pub, once a central hub for the community, had remained vacant for months after the previous owners’ departure last August.

Its return has been met with excitement from residents and visitors alike, eager to see the transformation and support local businesses.

As part of their mission to support the region, the Dog & Gun sources its produce from a variety of local and specialist suppliers, including R&J Butchers of Kirkby Malzeard, Kitsons Butchers in Northallerton, Hodgsons Fresh Fish in Yarm, and The Greengrocers of Thirsk.

Sweet treats are also on offer from Beaus Gelato in Newcastle, while Malton’s Dales provides high-quality speciality goods.

All meat served is free-range, grass-fed, and locally sourced, showcasing the pub’s commitment to quality and sustainability.

The pub has established a reputation for warm hospitality, offering designated dog-friendly dining areas where guests can bring their pets.

It also features fully accessible facilities, ensuring a welcoming environment for everyone.
