Tees Valley Business Board seeks new members to join them

The Tees Valley Business Board, which represents businesses across the region, is seeking new members to support its work in driving economic growth, attracting investment, and creating high-quality jobs.

The board guides efforts to attract new businesses, support existing firms to expand, and ensure that the workforce has the skills needed for future employment.

Matthew Ord, who was appointed chair of Tees Valley Business Board late last year for a four-year term, said: “I want the Business Board to ensure the voice of business is strong and central to shaping the Combined Authority’s plans for the future.

“I want our board to take a fresh, inclusive approach to its work and we want the very best of our business leaders to join us.

“If you value integrity, openness and are committed to working together for our region’s success, put yourself forward and join the team.”

The board is made up of private sector experts with experience in running successful businesses or holding senior leadership roles.

Members bring a wide range of expertise, representing businesses across the Tees Valley.

New members are being sought to continue the board’s focus on inward investment, business growth, and skills development.

The goal is to ensure that projects work for businesses and employers.

Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen said: “This board plays a hugely important role in making sure the decisions we take are grounded in real business experience and focused on delivering growth.

“We’ve laid the ground but we’ve still got big ambitions to attract global investment, to help local firms scale up and creating good quality jobs for our people.

“Having the Business Board, with Matt at the helm, helps ensure what we’re doing works in the real world for employers and workers alike.

“If you’re a business leader who wants to shape the future of our region and make a genuine difference, I’d urge you to put yourself forward.”
