Sunderland boutique Bouβchique to close after six years
The Sunderland store Bou-chique, established in 2019 and known for its βtimeless and inclusive fashion for every bodyβ, announced today (January 26) that it will be closing both its shop and online business.
In a statement, the owners said: βAfter a lot of thought, we want to share some important news. Bou-chique will be closing, our shop and the online business. This hasnβt been an easy decision.

βOver the past six years, weβve worked incredibly hard to build something we were proud of, and weβre so grateful for the loyalty, kindness and support youβve shown us along the way.β
The owners said the reason for the closure was due to the change in shopping habits over the years.
The statement continued: βShopping habits and retail trends have changed significantly, and despite our best efforts, itβs become clear that this is the right time for us to close this chapter. Even in what we believe is a great location, the traditional boutique model no longer works for us.
βThank you for being part of Bou-chique, it has truly meant the world to us.β
Before closing, the owners said they plan to finish in βthe most Bou-chique way possibleβ, with a series of lockdown-style Facebook Live videos throughout the final month.
They also confirmed the shop will remain open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm, giving customers their last chance to buy remaining stock at discounted prices.
Following the announcement, customers were quick to share messages of support.
One person commented: βSo sorry to hear this have bought lots of lovely things from your shop. Wishing you well for the future.β
Another said: βSo sorry to hear this, most of the clothes in my wardrobe are from yourselves, you will be hugely missed.β
A third added: βI love your boutique and bought some fabulous clothes, shoes and boots. I’m so grateful to have had the chance to shop with you and I wish you all the best for the future.β
