Smokin’ Joe’s Guisborough hit back at Just Eat review

On Wednesday (January 22), Smokin’ Joe’s, based on Fountain Road in Guisborough, took exception to the comments it received on a review by addressing it directly.

The restaurant, which serves burgers, loaded fries, chicken, wraps, and plenty of other food items, decided to take the customer to task out in the open.

“First time and last time ordering. Also, I don’t know if their portion sizes are bigger on location but what I got in the boxes was smaller than a meal deal from McDonald’s and at least McDonald’s is half the price I paid for these.”

Reacting to the review, Smokin’ Joe’s initially called the feedback “b******t” before explaining the situation.

The post from the venue started: ” This individual (not calling them a customer because I like our customers) ordered a half rack of ribs and a regular pulled pork tray with a Fanta.

“Firstly, god forbid we run out of an item and phone you to offer a replacement instead of just cancelling your order (good customer service I would have said).

“Secondly has anyone in the history of Smokin’ Joe’s – Guisborough ever had a legitimate complaint about the portion sizes being too small?”

“Thirdly we charged 22.85 for the meals we provided, you chose to order via Just Eat and pay £5.15 EXTRA in fees; not our fault. Order direct for the best prices where we don’t pay a 14 per cent overhead plus admin fees and VAT.

“And lastly, if you have a palette so basic that you can compare us to McDonald’s please save us the hassle and just go to McDonald’s get your processed reheated s**t from a drive-through and try not to choke.”

After the reaction was shared online, customers leapt to the defence of Smokin’ Joe’s, saying they could “totally understand” why the venue reacted in the way it did.
