Ramside Hall, Durham suffered security data breach
On Wednesday (December 24), Ramside Hall said that a system operated by a third-party had suffered a security breach, and said that other venues across the world had been hit with the same issue.

The breach was first reported after several Ramside customers reported receiving WhatsApp messages asking them to confirm details and send payment.
The luxury venue on the outskirts of Durham has asked customers not to click on any links they are sent and instead contact the hotel directly.

A spokesperson for Ramside Hall said: βWe were made aware of a scam email that was circulating to some of our clients β and also to many hotel guests globally β as a result of a breach in the third party property management system that is used throughout the hospitality industry.
As soon as we were told, we reached out to all of our customers to warn them that this had not come from us and not to click on any links or supply payment details and advised anyone who had done so to contact their banks immediately.
“We would like to reassure everyone however that no card details were ever compromised as they are held on an entirely different system.
“While the attempted scam did not come from any of our systems, we are fully aware of how upsetting this must have been and we have apologised for any inconvenience caused.
“Anyone who has any queries should speak to our reservations team directly and they will help in any way them can.β
