Opening date set for Ripon Tesco in former Booths shop
The manager of the new store has also been named as Richard Butcher, who until recently has been working for Tesco in York.
Until taking up his new role in August, he was convenience store manager for Tesco in Low Ousegate, York.
Prior to that, Richard was a lead manager at Tesco Clifton Moor. He has worked for the supermarket giant since 2011, with other roles with Tesco around Yorkshire, Lancashire and the North East.
Booths closed on the site on July 20 after trading in Ripon for 16 years. Work on refitting the supermarket began soon after Booths shut its doors with Tesco already announcing it would take over the property prior to the closure.
The closure by the upmarket retailer, known as βthe Waitrose of the Northβ was met by much sadness in the cathedral city, but Booths said the venture was uneconomic.
Tesco offered jobs to Booths employees but is still recruiting for a range of vacancies.
Richard said on social media: βWe are currently underway with our recruitment where we have numerous positions available for full time, part time, permanent and temporary positions.Β
“Iβm super super excited to get to know you all and meet you all and start to build a great relationship with you all within the city of Ripon.”
Richard added he and his βwonderfulβ team cannot wait to welcome customers when the store opens on Thursday November 20.
He also urged people seeking roles at his store to go to Tescocareers.com.
