New Indian restaurant set to open in Shotley Bridge

The former Rumi’s site on Front Street in Shotley Bridge is set to be converted into Kushi.

In a Facebook post last November owners, who also run the Morpeth and Brockwell Tandooris in Northumberland said: “We are delighted to announce that we have purchased the former Rumi’s on Front Street in Shotley Bridge.

“We have big plans to transform the restaurant into an exciting new venue for the area.”

The page has since been sharing pictures as works to transform the restaurant continue.

Video highlights extensive renovations across the site, including the main restaurant, a function room, toilets, the bar area, and the kitchens and prep space.

The business states it is set to open in Spring 2026, but no official date has been confirmed.

The Northern Echo has contacted Kushi for more information.
