Meat Stack Newcastle named one of top burger joints in country
Meat:Stack, which launched in Newcastle in 2016, took third place in the competition, finishing just behind Honest Burgers and Londonβs Burger & Beyond.
The team said the award was a proud moment after years of growth from street food beginnings.
Tom, co-founder of Meat:Stack, said: “This one means a lot to us.
“Newcastle is where this whole thing started β the city and the people here really built us from day one.”
The National Burger Awards are judged by top chefs and hospitality figures in a live cook-off.

Meat:Stackβs podium finish put them ahead of established names from the capital like Bleecker.
Allan, another co-founder, said: “To be up there competing alongside brands like Honest, Bleecker, Burger & Beyond & Dannyβs Burgers is pretty surreal.
“And finishing ahead of places like Bleecker – who weβve always admired – makes it even more special.”
Instead of designing a new burger for the judges, the team entered their signature West Coast Classic.

Third co-founder, Charlie, said: “We didnβt try to reinvent anything.
“We cooked the burger weβve sold the most of since day one β our West Coast Classic.
“Itβs simple, but every detail matters: the beef, the bun, the sauce, the technique.
“Itβs everything Meat:Stack is about.”
Meat:Stack has built a loyal following with its American-style smash burgers, beef dripping fries and house-made sauces.
The recognition is especially meaningful to the team because of the community that helped them grow.
Allan said: “Newcastle has backed us from the start.
“People here gave us our first queues, our first regulars, and helped us grow into what we are today.
“Getting onto the podium nationally feels like something weβve done together.”
