Kurdish Shawarma in Darlington handed zero hygiene rating



Kurdish Shawarma, on High Northgate, has been told urgent improvement is necessary following a new inspection on January 13.Β 

It comes almost a year after a previous one-star rating found the takeaway was storing raw lamb next to salad and using the same chopping boards for raw and ready-to-eat foods.Β 

While the recent inspection found that the cleanliness and condition of the building was generally satisfactory, other areas of concern were identified.Β 

The hygienic food handling, which includes food preparation, cooking, and storage, was ranked improvement necessary while the management of food safety, which looks at staff food safety knowledge and food safety checks, was ranked urgent improvement necessary.Β 

Kurdish Shawarma, which has a 4.6 rating on Google, is known for serving up mixed plates, chicken shawarma, kofta, biryani, and a variety of soups.Β 

The takeaway has been contacted for comment but did not respond in time for publication.

The Northern Echo has requested the full food hygiene report from Darlington Borough Council.
