Butterwick Hospice, based in Stockton, upgraded two kitchen areas with help from Magnet Projects and Scott Bros.

The new kitchens, in the adult day area and the children’s unit, were supplied and fitted by Magnet Projects.

Thornaby-based Scott Bros provided a complimentary skip service to remove the old units and associated materials for recycling.

Amanda Baker, corporate partnerships manager at Butterwick Hospice, said: “We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of both Magnet Projects and Scott Bros.

“Their support has allowed us to modernise our kitchen facilities without diverting vital funding away from frontline care.

“The new kitchens will make a real difference to the comfort and dignity of our patients, their families and our staff.”

The refurbished kitchens are designed to improve both layout and usability and are worth several thousand pounds.

Butterwick Hospice offers inpatient care, adult day services, home care, bereavement counselling and a dedicated children’s hospice.

All services are provided free of charge to people across Teesside and County Durham.

The charity must raise around Β£5m each year through fundraising and community support.

Scott Bros director Peter Scott said: “As a business rooted in the local area, we believe it’s important to roll up our sleeves and help where we can.

“By taking care of the waste removal, we were able to play a practical role in a project that directly improves the environment for people who need compassion and care the most.”

The hospice has been providing holistic care to local people across Teesside and County Durham for more than 40 years.

Both Magnet Projects and Scott Bros are valued corporate partners of the hospice.
