Hobo Coffee House, on Yarm High Street, to close this summer

Hobo Coffee House, in Yarm, announced over the weekend that it had made the “difficult decision” to leave its current home in the town this summer.

The venue, which has gained widespread praise for its “beautiful” coffee, sweet treats, breakfast items, lunches, and more said it was the best decision for the business “given the current climate”.

However, Hobo coffee lovers needn’t stress, as bosses promised that it is “definitely not the end of Hobo’s journey” with plans for the business to go mobile.

While details remain under wraps, the venue, formerly known as Mint Hobo, teased that plans for a trailer are in the works, asking regulars to wait for updates on the “exciting transition”.

An exact closing date for the physical store is not yet known.

A full post on Facebook said: “I think some of you are already expecting this post, but I wanted to keep everyone in the loop with hobo’s journey.

“After almost seven years as Hobo, and three years as Mint Hobo, we are sadly leaving our spot on the high street.

“This has been a difficult decision, but given the current climate, it’s the best decision for the business, me and Embon, and the future of Hobo.

“It is definitely not the end of Hobo’s journey, but a transition to a new normal for us. We honestly wouldn’t have been in our little spot for so long, if it wasn’t for all the support of you guys.

“People’s love for coffee and chatting rubbish has proved popular, and I cannot thank you lot enough.

“Our next plan is to go mobile with a trailer, which is all in process. So please stick with us as we provide you updates on what is to be an exciting transition for the Hobo brand.

“We’re still here in our little spot on the high street until the summer, so let’s make it a good one. Once again, I cannot thank you guys enough for all your amazing support.

“Thank you to all the incredible staff who have made Hobo what it is. Hobo is not just bricks and mortar. It is a family.”
