HECK! in Bedale launches Colour & Create Sausage Challenge

The HECK! Colour & Create Sausage Challenge is open to youngsters aged five to 12 across, who are invited to design and colour a sausage pack template – choosing either chicken or pork – and invent a brand new sausage flavour.

The winning entry will be transformed into a real limited-edition sausage, developed in collaboration with HECK!’s sausage scientist Calum Smith at the company’s headquarters at Kirklington, near Bedale.(Image: Glen Minikin)

Jamie Keeble, co-founder of HECK!, said: “We’re always looking for fun and delicious ways to shake up the sausage world.

“We thought, why not let the next generation take the reins?

“Whether it’s rainbow sprinkles, pizza fillings, or something completely wild, we want to see what Britain’s kids can dream up.

“This is about inspiring creativity and showing that food can be fun.”

The top prize includes having the winning sausage flavour produced and sold on the HECK! website, a visit to the company’s HQ to learn sausage-making skills, and a year’s supply of HECK! products.

Five runners-up will receive sausage and burger bundles.

The competition builds on last year’s partnership with Bedale Primary School, which saw eight-year-old Lola Fenn’s Honey Lemon & Chicken Sausage brought to life and sold online and in Booths supermarkets.
