Golden Fish Inn, Consett, announces expansion and refurb

Golden Fish Inn, in Delves Lane, Consett, shared the news on social media, promising more space and faster service.

Building work is set to start on the in the next 12 weeks.

A spokesperson for Golden Fish Inn said: “We’ve had limited space for the last 20 years. More equipment will make it easier for our staff.

“We are looking to expand our menu too and include pizzas and smash burgers.”

The announcement on social media prompted an outpouring of well-wishers’ comments as residents flocked to react to the news.

Michelle Reed said: “Wow! Exciting times,” while Marc Shipley said: “Success breeds success – well done.”

The chippy is highly rated online, with a 4.7/5 rating on TripAdvisor, picking up 127 ‘excellent’ reviews – the highest possible score on the site.

One contributor on the site said: “Amazing food. This little hidden gem in Consett has amazing food. Fish and chips and the kebabs are the best I’ve ever had. Worth the 24 mile trip! Tartare sauce is unreal too.”
