Filthy’s Deli opening tomorrow in Seaham’s Mill Inn building

Filthy’s Deli Seaham, located at the former Mill Inn building, will officially open tomorrow (January 30).

The venue will be serving everything from breakfasts through to pizzas and desserts seven days a week, from 7am until 9pm.

The opening marks the latest chapter for the former Mill Inn building, which dates back to the 1800s.

After taking over the previous Old Ranch Meat House last year, the owners say the new launch is about giving the venue a sustainable future.

Taking to social media, the venue said: “As part of this next chapter, we’ll be no longer offering sit-in dining.

“We originally took over with the running of the Barn and then after a while decided to give the Mill Inn our best shot but it just wasn’t sustainable.

“We know that the Mill Inn building forms generations of memories and we didn’t want to just let it go and end up in the hands of a developer and no longer be used for a public service building.”

The new business said they will provide takeaway and delivery services only for the foreseeable but have teased exciting future plans.

To celebrate tomorrow’s opening, the first 10 customers through the door will receive a free bacon sandwich and a hot drink.

After announcing the news, the name has caused quite a stir.

In response, the venue said: “When we first started thinking about what we could do to give the people what they want, we thought that this is exactly what Seaham was crying out for.

“We’ve had lots of comments about the name “eee nah why would ya call it Filthys” “that’s tacky” blah blah blah.

“It’s called Filthy’s because the foods sexy, filthy and everything you’d ever want.”

Many people on social media have shared their excitement about the opening.

One person said: “That looks amazing, can’t wait to try this place.”

While another person said they were “overjoyed”.

They said: “I start work at 8am – I’m popping for a coffee on my way to work. I’ve never found anywhere open that early, I’m overjoyed!”
