Easington: Healthworks Community CafΓ© opens its doors

The Healthworks Community CafΓ©, based in Easington at the Healthworks building, is the result of a partnership between Mental Health Matters (MHM) and the Wellbeing for Life service.

The cafΓ©, which launched on January 16, aims to support wellbeing.

Emma Blue, deputy area manager at Mental Health Matters, said: “The launch event was incredibly well attended by members of the public, service users, and the Mental Health Matters and Wellbeing for Life teams.

“It provided an excellent opportunity for us to chat and get to know each other better, whilst informing people about our employment services and the future of the Healthworks Community CafΓ©.”

Held in a warm, relaxed setting, the cafΓ© is open to local residents and requires no referral to attend.

It will run on the second Thursday of every month and will be staffed by volunteers.

The cafΓ© will offer affordable refreshments and a chance for people to connect, with support on hand from organisations offering advice regarding health, wellbeing, and day-to-day living.

People can also gain experience and qualifications in areas such as food hygiene, barista skills, customer service, hospitality, and project management.

Mental Health Matters is a third sector organisation providing support to people with mental health needs.
