Diggers spotted on Green Lane in Middlesbrough at proposed Lidl site
Lidl has submitted its second appeal to build a store on Green Lane in Middlesbrough and has confirmed diggers have been on site carrying out investigation works.
However, the chain is still awaiting a decision on the planning application for the proposed new shop.

Previous plans for the site were rejected by councillors in late 2023 with a subsequent appeal dismissed in autumn 2024.

Lidl has since submitted a revised proposal to Middlesbrough Council. If approved, the new design has been drafted to fit in better with the surrounding area.
A spokesperson for Lidl said: “The digger on site was assisting a small team undertaking routine and brief site investigations works. Those works have now concluded.
“We are still awaiting a decision on our planning application for a new store at Linthorpe.”
