Darlington cocktail bar Dr Inks reopened with new management
Dr Inks on Coniscliffe Road reopened yesterday (Thursday, March 5), under new management, with Scott Barratt, 27, from Darlington and Thomas Cullen, 26, originally from Richmond, taking over.
The couple got the keys to the venue on Monday, March 2 and, in a quick turnaround, they have revamped the place with more pink and new menus in the hope of bringing the bar back to life.
Dr.inks opened in 2018 in the townhouse on Coniscliffe Road, boasting a vibrant atmosphere and beer garden that made the bar a staple in Darlington.
In recent years, though, the popularity of Dr.inks has decreased, and the property was put up for sale last year.Β
New owner Scott used to work at Dr.inks before leaving to run The Vault in Darlington market, so returning to try and bring back its former vibe in the town was a “no-brainer” for him.
He said: “When I used to work here, I thought I would always want to run it, but left for better opportunities. When I saw the price slash for it on sale, I knew now was the time to start.
“We want to take it back to how it was a couple of years ago. We are completely closing the garden to fully renovate it so that in the near future we can have garden parties.
“We want to bring it back to what it was, as it lost a bit of that and wasn’t the same anymore.”
Scott added: “We want people to come back and give us a try as it will be a completely different vibe now.”
Dr.inks will re-open with a soft opening at first, with plans to potentially have a family and friends night in the near future.Β
