A Taste of Redcar and Cleveland returns with tasty offers

A Taste of Redcar and Cleveland will run from March 4 to 15, with hospitality businesses across the borough invited to take part by offering exclusive food and drink deals.

Organisers hope the event will boost their trade, attract new customers, and showcase the area’s diverse hospitality scene.

The scheme is open to all sit-in venues, including bars, cafΓ©s, bistros, pubs, restaurants, and hotels.

Cllr Carrie Richardson, cabinet member for climate and culture at Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, said: “It is always exciting seeing a variety of venues taking part in A Taste of Redcar and Cleveland, each with their own unique deals.

“Redcar and Cleveland is home to a fantastic range of independent food and drink businesses, and this campaign is a great way to shine a spotlight on them.

“We’re proud to support our local establishments and I encourage venues to sign up and residents to explore the fantastic food and drink offer we have on our doorstep.”

Businesses are asked to put forward at least one special offer at a set price pointβ€”Β£5, Β£10, Β£15, Β£20, Β£25, or Β£30 and above.

Offers can be tailored to suit the venue.

A new participant this year is Scoundrels Coffee Co. in Saltburn.

The cafΓ©, open for two and a half years, will offer a scone or teacake with a hot drink for Β£5.

Owner Reece Cook said: “Initially we wanted to open a barbershop, as I already own one in Middlesbrough, but after getting this place we felt that a coffee shop would fit better here.

“We’ve joined a Taste of Redcar and Cleveland to invite more people in, so that those who haven’t tried Scoundrels yet will come and give us a go.”

Scoundrels is currently expanding, adding an extra room and considering introducing food to the menu.

Participating venues will benefit from free promotion through the Enjoy Redcar and Cleveland tourism platform, social media channels, and printed and digital marketing materials.

The campaign aims to support the borough’s hospitality sector while giving residents and visitors a reason to explore new places at an affordable price.

Full details of participating businesses and their offers will be available on the Enjoy Redcar and Cleveland website, which will be updated as new venues join the scheme.

Hospitality businesses wishing to take part can sign up online at the Redcar and Cleveland engagement platform.
