Showcase Cinemas announces £1 popcorn offer for this weekend
A national study, conducted by the cinema chain, discovered that more than 2.7million kilograms of sweet or salty popcorn was enjoyed by film fans while watching a movie at its cinemas nationwide last year.
Extrapolated across the total number of cinemas in the UK, film fans tucked into approximately 146 million kilograms of the movie snack in 2024.
As a result of the research by Showcase Cinemas, Peterborough was revealed as being the popcorn capital of the UK with one in four (24%) cinemagoers in the town buying popcorn when they visit the big screen.
Reading and Nottingham (both 21%) came in second and third place.
